Katie Bugg BSc (Hons) Lic.Ac MBAcC

Katie graduated with a BSc (Hons) from the London College of Traditional Acupuncture (LCTA).  She is registered with the BAcC and is bound by strict codes and ethics as well as being committed to continuous professional development.Katie’s areas of special interest are pregnancy, musculoskeletal conditions, anxiety and sleep disorders, migraine and digestive problems.

Modern life can bring stresses and strains that have a detrimental effect on the equilibrium of the body resulting in illness.   Anxiety, insomnia, digestive disorders, migraine and pain are just some of the conditions that have an impact on our well-being.  Acupuncture is a system of healing that supports health and vitality by stimulating the natural restorative process of the body.  As well as Acupuncture Katie incorporates a range of therapies in her treatments including cupping therapy, moxa and Guasha (massage).  She believes that the mind and body must work in harmony to achieve optimal health and practices yoga to gain mental calmness and maintain physical health.

FERTILITY

Katie has a special interest in treating fertility issues and is committed to offering support at what can be a very stressful time.  Acupuncture works perfectly with Western Medicine and far from being in conflict can play a supportive role for those receiving fertility treatments including IVF.  Chinese Medicine looks at the whole person and treats holistically, tailoring treatment to the individual and not just signs and symptoms.
A recent study published in the British Medical Journal concluded that when combined with IVF, 'acupuncture increased the odds of clinical pregnancy by 65%".

PREGNANCY

Acupuncture can be used safely throughout each trimester helping you to relax and enjoy the pregnancy.  It can allay anxiety and fatigue whilst helping with more specific symptoms ranging from morning sickness to lumbar pain and sciatica.  As a natural alternative it is the perfect way to maintain and support your health whilst pregnant and beyond.
Safety is very important and certain points should not be used and are never used during pregnancy.  To ensure the safety of both mother and baby Katie is registered with the British Acupuncture Council and as such is bound by strict codes and ethics.
